Airport to University of Washington

A taxi ride from the airport takes between 25 and 45 minutes depending on traffic and should cost around $50. Please carpool if possible. Shared shuttle rides are also available and are considerably cheaper; it is recommended to reserve in advance.

It is also possible to use the Link Light Rail out of Seatac: take the train to Chinatown stop and transfer to one of several buses that go through the U District, including the 72 and the 73 (express). This is a very economical option but is slower: expect at least an hour.

See here for a searchable campus map. Participants will be housed at Lander Hall in the U. District adjacent to the UW campus. Please go to Lander Hall to check in when you arrive.

Getting around

Seattle has an adequate public transit system. You can search for bus, train and ferry routes using the King County Transit Planner.

Opening reception

There will be a reception at 6pm on Wednesday, June 25th at the Waterfront Activities Center on the UW campus, on the shores of Lake Washington. This will be walking distance so participants can make your way by foot. You can follow the Burke-Gilman bike trail along busy Pacific Avenue, or take the opportunity to cross through and explore campus, or make your way along the shore of Lake Union behind the Medical School; you will exit on a footpath at Montlake Bridge.

The Waterfront Activities Center offers rental of canoes and rowboats. Participants may like to arrive early to paddle on the lake through the beautiful Arboretum. Boats cost around $10/hr; you will need to bring a photo ID.
